The Still Standing Alliance Had us Standing Tall at the Big Game Concert!

Updated: Feb 14, 2019

When you're living a settlefree life, you don't allow your past to define your future, you create a movement and empower others to "Get Out!"and better their lives. That's exactly what Tamiko Lowry Pugh and her team does everyday and most recently in partnership with Eventfully Yours, they put together an amazing benefits concert featuring Angie Stone and Calvin Richardson Friday February 1st. While many were out at the Super Bowl getting their game on, this group of people were giving back. Giving back to a cause greater than themselves. The Big Game concert was created to benefit The Still Standing Alliance which is a 501C3 nonprofit organization that raises awareness to domestic violence. Founded by Tamiko Lowry Pugh. We had the amazing talk show and TV host and actress Chere Turner who did a fabulous job hosting this event keeping everybody happy and filled with joy. On this day for the first time ever, we were also introduced to The Still Standing Alliance Chaplin, Pastor Luther Mckinstry one of the board members who was in attendance. Another board member present was the Treasurer Ms. Isis Kenney.

Angie Stone put on an amazing show on the stage and yes she had her shoes off so you know she was "sanging!! She sang a few of her greatest hits, many in which she dedicated to the men in the building. One of my personal favorite was “My Sunshine” I love that song, it talks about the joy of finding true love and she showered us with another personal favorite, “Brotha” where she spends the entire track, loving on men calling them strong, and saying there is no other. Calvin Richardson came in and lit the stage on fire and I must say, you would have thought you were at a concert at the Phillips Arena as they both came out and gave us a draw dropping, engaging and loving concert. Not to mention they were amazing on the stage together! A little birdie told me they just might be working on a project together but you didn't hear that from me. (Grin)

I had the chance to chat with the President of Still Standing Alliance Chere Turner and asked her how it felt to have come this far and seeing such amazing people coming out to support. She said, “ It feels great but it has not been easy.” This work is hard to do and it’s a daily act of giving.” How humble is she?? I must say, it does take a special group of people to dedicate their life to a cause bigger than themselves and that’s what the Still Standing Alliance does every single day!
