Woo Hoo! SettlefreeTV was in the building today at the press release for the 20th Annual Super Bowl Gospel Celebration. On January 31, 2019 the 20th Annual Superbowl Celebration will be held right here in my home town Atlanta Ga. at the Atlanta Symphony Hall during the Super Bowl LIII weekend. The Super Bowl Gospel Celebration was launched in 1999 during Super Bowl XXXIII weekend where Founder Melanie Few had been wondering for years, why wasn't gospel music being celebrated along with the Super Bowl? This celebration is the first and only Gospel concert with blessings from the National Football League (NFL) that has remained an ever growing show. This amazing show has drawn crowds in the thousands and continues to grow year-after-year, selling out venues in major Super Bowl host cities including Dallas, Tampa, Detroit, Jacksonville, Houston and Phoenix.
Atlanta's amazing Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms welcomed the 20th Annual Super Bowl Gospel Celebration (SBGC) to Atlanta during a press conference today at City Hall with members of the NFL, the Atlanta Super Bowl Host Committee, Boys & Girls Club of America and Radio One in attendance.
I loved chatting with TV and Radio Personality Rickey Smiley who definitely keeps us smiling. I asked him how he felt to be chosen to host this fabulous affair? He said "It's an honor to know it's been 30 years and I'm still relevant. I used to host BET'S Comic View in 2,000 and I'm back again to host this event." Rickey also took the time to show us his best Omega (Que) symbol hook and he didn't disappoint. We just love Rickey Smiley!
The Press release which took place at the Atlanta City Hall, revealed the line up for the Superbowl Gospel Celebration. The 20th anniversary concert will be taped in front of a live audience on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Atlanta Symphony Hall during Super Bowl LIII week. We were excited to learn that radio and tv personality Rickey Smiley is set to co-host the show, with performances by Kirk Franklin, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, The Winans and the Super Bowl Gospel NFL Players Choir. More talent will be announced.
( Four members of the NFL Players Choir) Terrence Stephens ,Cameron Newton, Bryan Scott, Olrick Johnson, serenaded us all today sharing a few samples from a few songs they plan to perform live at the Superbowl Gospel Celebration. The choir has about 40 members, these were just a small portion of the full choir. It was so warm to see the positive energy in the room today, in light of what the nation has been faced with pertaining to the NFL and the (take a knee protest) Those of you who know me know that I'm all about sharing my settlefree lifestyle message, not settling for less in life, love, relationships, career choices, friendships and finances. I had an opportunity to chat personally with Arthur McAfee he has quite a role, he's the NFL SVP of Player Engagement. I asked his insight on living his life settlefree and not allowing what's happening around him to cause him to lose his focus on creating excitement to the players with such a crucial position in the NFL.
He responded "It comes with focus, understanding, and knowing there is a greater purpose and many NFL players as we saw today are already excited, just have to keep that energy going."
The annual music special will be filmed on January 31st and premiere on BET Networks on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 8:00 PM ET We hope you'll get your tickets if you're in the Atlanta area to attend this awesome show and support the lovely Melanie Few January 31st.
